Developing memories, months after

It's amazing how different of an experience it is shooting with a film camera. I take each photo and have that memory sealed inside the film until I eventually choose to develop it. Having that kind of limitation has shaped me into having a more cautious approach with each shot, and it's so rewarding having the built up suspense when I finally, finally see my negatives after processing.I purchased a Canonet QL17 G-III back in March, and the results it's giving me so far are breath taking.

Back in August, Diego and I decided to take a trip to Santa Monica and LA to celebrate our anniversary, as well as my birthday. The two days flew by so quickly, and we definitely tried to see as much as possible while we were there. I waited a few months before I developed my film, but here are some of the results below.

Our very first stop was Hollywood cemetery. After entering and trying to take a few photos, the security guard scooted up on his golf cart and told us to knock it off. Oh well, still snuck a few!

My little sharp camera surprised me with this when I was in an incredibly low light bathroom, ha!
This was taken at the Leica store in Los Angeles, by one of their employees. She was so sweet, and spoke with Diego and I about her passion for photography for 30 minutes or so.
Above and below are of the stunning LACMA just a few blocks away from the Leica store.

We then made our way towards Santa Monica for dinner and an improv show.

By this time it was getting dark, but I tried to sneak this shot in before our dinner.
Day 2 - We couldn't forget to give ourselves a tour of Hollywood!

After Hollywood - on our way to the Getty Museum!

The very last place we needed to see before we left. One of our main reasons for going was for this ferris wheel.

I had a huge smile on my face during this ride. It was probably the most stunning view on a ferris wheel that I've seen so far - just as the sun was starting to set.

The more experience I gain with shooting film, the more I fall in love with every element. I love the suspense of not knowing exactly what you've just captured, and therefore the consideration that's involved when you approach each subject.

I'll continue shooting with this camera for a long time, and I'm so happy with how quickly it's grown on me. I rely on it to capture my adventures, and so far, sooo good!
